PreReg is closing!

We will be closing preregistration at 11:59 PM on June 30th. After that, you will need to show up with cash in hand the day of the tournament(s).

Also, it is the last day to get in on the sweet coin, among other little goodies, including $5 gift certificate from Gunslinger Games. Yeah, I said it. Gunslinger Games is offering $5 to those who preregister for the Con. They are being kind enough even after hosting us, providing terrain and tables, and even adjusting their schedule that they are giving away money.

The only problem? We got 6 spots left for those that want to get in on the coin, $5 gift card, poster from the new book Colossals, and other items provided by Privateer Press. Several people have said they are going to register but I have yet to see their invoice come in so those 6 spots are still open! Hurry up because you got less than a week left!

Update: 3 Round SR 2012 Scenarios

As we get closer, I know some players are testing lists for scenarios. Well, time to prep as we have the list of six scenarios for the 50 Pt 3 Round SR 2012.

The scenarios are:
3. Overrun
6. Destruction
7. Incursion
12. Envelopment
15. Restoration
17. Diversion.

We will be selecting randomly 3 of the 6 above.

Also, since the fine fellows at Clash for the Cure will be attending this event, the winner of the 50 Pt Tournament will be the recipient of the 2-day pass for Clash for the Cure. Please note this is a change from what was posted earlier for T2.

Painting Competition

Painting Competition

Coal & Claw Weekend 2013 will be hosting a painting competition again. Entries are due in by Saturday, July 6th at 5 PM. Any entries submitted after 5:10 PM will NOT be judged. Models that have won other previous painting competitions will be disqualified upon judging.

1. Master Painter

Any small or medium base model (base size up to 40 MM). If you place 3rd or better in this category, you are ineligible to win in the other groups.

2. Battlegroup

The Battlegroup entry can be any legal Warmachine or Hordes Battlegroup consisting of one warcaster or warlock and two to four warjacks or warbeasts.  These models will be judged on the quality of the paint jobs, the creativity of their basing, as well as the cohesiveness of the battle group. Warcaster and Warlock Attachments can count towards your model count.

3. Monsters Among Men

Any huge base model (base size must be 61mm or greater, usually 120mm).

4. Tabletop Terrain

The Terrain Table painting competition is all about showing off a great table top set of terrain.  Bring in a full spread of terrain, enough designed for a 4'x4' table.  The Terrain will be judged on quality of painting, preparedness, theme, and functionality.  Bonus points will be considered for participants allowing the use of their terrain entry throughout the event.

Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each category. Please note that if we mark you down for placing in the Master Painter, you are ineligible to win the other painting groups. We are doing this for 2013 because the prizes for Master Painter will be exceptional beyond the other competitions.

What's the deal with the raffle?

If you have noticed on the events, each event a participant fully completes they will receive a raffle ticket at the end of the event. Those that place 3rd or better earn bonus raffle tickets. These tickets will be used at the end on Sunday for a very special prize...

Well, one of the Pressgangers here in Dallas has volunteered to pick up Stormwall or Conquest for Sunday's raffle.

Yes, the individual volunteered. You read that right. The only stipulation is that you, the would-be participants, have to complete each event you attend in order to get the raffle ticket. If you decide to drop mid way through the tournament, no raffle ticket for you.

Of course, other events might have raffles during the event for other prizes. Or there might be goodies for those that make special achievements or be the first to win a bizarre scenario. But let us be honest for moment - who would not want to win a Colossal?

Rules: Players must survive the zombie horde to get out of town alive. Survivors will play a co-op game but with a twist. The group has a bag of cash to split equally but if someone were to die then shares of the cash get better for the survivors. Players may not directly target another survivor with a weapon to kill that player off, but they can choose not to help them out when the player gets themselves stuck in a crowd of zombies. You just have to weigh the advantages. Choose wisely when to back stab as it could mean more cash for the split or a body that you sorely needed to survive.

Survivors will need to check each objective point for supplies to get out of town. Collect GAs, 2 Water, and 2 Food, then get back to the car to drive out of town. Each player will start with one ranged weapon and one melee weapon. The players that are still alive at the end of the game will split a cash pot. Each participant will receive a colored picture of their player.

Registration

Registration for Coal & Claw Weekend 2013 is now live! We have gone with a new format, allowing Pre-Registration running from today until Monday, June 3rd. There are several benefits why you should pre-register.

  1. Cool swag. Once again, we will be handing out goodies to those that pre-register. Various gauges, templates, and dice are on order!
  2. Cost saving. Registering at the door will cost you $30.00 on Friday or Saturday, while $20 on Sunday. Yes, it is only $5.00 difference per day based on the form but the Full Weekend Pass is remaining at $40.00! If you want to attend all three days, you'll save 50% instead of paying at the door.*
  3. Ensures your spot in an event. Last year we had up to 50 players for one event and this year we expect to grow even more!
Also, for those ambitious and would like to volunteer their time to assist the tournament organizers, stay tuned in the next couple of weeks for our announcement about the volunteer program that we are putting together to help assist Tournament Organizers during each event. We will probably be looking for 2 volunteers per event, except for the Master Bodger, which will require 1 volunteer, and the X-Wing tournament, which will require no volunteers. Only those that have pre-registered already will be eligible to sign up for the volunteer program.
